Primal was founded as a privately funded research lab to tackle a hard problem: extracting meaning from vast amounts of unstructured, disorganized, and incomplete data. The early work was symbolic computing. It evolved into a hybrid model that merges symbolic and neural methods, the same approach behind Primal's technology today.
Over the years, Primal folded in new advances in AI research: knowledge graphs, semantic representation, deep learning, neural networks, neuro-symbolic techniques, generative AI. As generative AI got good enough to produce professional work on its own, a new problem took over: nobody could trace what that work told you back to where it actually came from.
