Joe Simrell
Chairman & CEO

Joe Simrell manages the strategic direction of Primal Solutions. He was part of the original executive team that launched Primal as an analytics software company and secured it’s first round of funding. Elevated to Chairman and CEO from CFO in 2003, Joe has focused the company on driving exceptional value for its customers through innovative managed solutions that extract value from transaction data in order to grow revenues and increase profitability.

Joe has guided Primal through multiple rounds of funding, an acquisition, merger into a portfolio company controlled by the company’s original investors, and a subsequent spin-off into a standalone publicly held company. Under his leadership, Primal Solutions has won numerous industry awards, and was twice awarded Deloitte & Touche’s Orange County/San Diego Technology Fast 50 award.

Prior to joining Primal, Joe was CFO and EVP at a Southern California system integrator specializing in migrating enterprise software products from legacy to next-generation platforms. Clients included leading software companies serving the manufacturing, international banking and insurance industries. During that period, Joe drove several domestic and international acquisitions that were key to the company’s rapid growth.

Prior to Joe’s move to Southern California, Joe served as the managing partner of InteGroup, an international consulting firm whose clients included Marriott, Sheraton, InterContinental Hotels, Nortel and BellSouth. Before InteGroup, Joe held executive positions in a number of companies including BellSouth and SCI.

Joe is active in a number of local organizations including the Forum for Corporate Directors and the Adaptive Business Leaders organization. He earned his BS degree in Business Administration from Marquette University, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Bob Richardson
Chief Operating Officer

Bob Richardson manages the daily operations of Primal Solutions. Bob brings to Primal extensive expertise and experience in managed services, very large database design and management, analytical applications development, and enterprise-scale applications design and development. Bob has extensive software applications experience in the entertainment, financial services, automotive, and utilities industries.

Prior to joining Primal, Bob co-founded StrataSource, a profitable, high-growth venture-backed managed services company which provided 24/7 high quality, efficient applications management services for high volume website operators such as Disney, Xerox, Sony, Fox Broadcasting, Foot Locker, and Universal Studios.

Bob also co-founded Relational Data Systems, a regional project-based computer consulting and systems integration company specializing in database management system application development and support. Clients included Warner Bros., Paramount, Techni Color, Disney, Creative Artists, Sony, Capital Group, Jefferies, Honda, and Hyundai among others. Bob also previously held several senior positions in Sybase’s Southern California consulting division.

Bob earned his BS degree in Computer Science from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, California.

Bill Homan-Muise
CTO, and VP of Engineering

Bill Homan-Muise manages the technical direction of Primal and oversees all engineering activities at the company. Bill brings to Primal extensive expertise and experience SOA, web-centric applications development, very large database applications, decision support systems design, and enterprise-scale applications design and development. Bill has extensive software applications experience in the entertainment, financial services, automotive, and utilities industries.
Bill is the visionary behind Primal’s innovative IPC technology. Through his work with Primal’s carrier customers, Bill identified shortcomings in the existing systems deployed that made it next to impossible to gain a clear picture of a customer’s transactions as they passed through the various back office systems, let alone leverage that transactional data for actionable business intelligence. Bill’s approach with IPC provides a real-time capability to gain a 360 view of the customer’s transactional experience and leverage that data to generate more revenue, increase profitability, and control costs.

Prior to Primal, Bill held C-level engineering and technology leadership positions at Origo, Relational Data Systems, and OMNI Technologies among others. Bill is an active participant in the open source movement, and a sought after contributor to numerous technical journals and blogs.
